emoyo (2019)

Instrumentation: percussion 1 ( 2 splash cymbals, Chinese cymbal, 2 toms (higher), 4 unpitched metal tubes), percussion 2 ( hi-hat, 2 suspended cymbals, bass drum, 2 bongos), percussion 3 ( 3 nipple gongs, 2 cowbells, 2 congas, rain stick), percussion 4 ( 2 tam-tams, 2 triangles, 2 tom (lower) and
tubular bells)

Program Information:
emoyo, short for emotional yoyo, remembers the ups and downs of my lengthy, convoluted and expensive immigration process. Like the work, there was a lot of repetition, reiteration, and redundancy, and moments of “left hand does not know what right hand is doing” in the process.
