Emily is accepted into Samuel Adler's studio at the Bowdoin International Music Festival 2010.

-March 22 2010-

Emily is accepted into the June in Buffalo Festival 2010, at the University at Buffalo, Buffalo, NY. Her work [circum]-perceptio will be performed by the Signal Ensemble on May 31 2010 at the UB Arts Center, Buffalo, NY.

February 2010

-February 22 2010-

Emily receives a new commission from the Singapore Lyric Opera Company. The new commissioned work will be performed by the Singapore Lyric Opera Children's Chorus in their 2011 concert season.

November 2009

-November 1 2009-

Emily receives a new commission from the Philharmonic Orchestra Society. The new commissioned work, celebrating the 100th anniversary of Stravinsky's The Firebird, will be performed by the Philharmonic Orchestra in November 2010.

September 2009

-September 4 2009-

Emily begins her studies as a candidate for the Master of Music in composition and music theory pedagogy, at the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD. Her studies at Peabody is supported in full by the National University of Singapore.

July 2009

-July 11 2009-

Emily is named the valedictorian of her graduating class at the National University of Singapore. She gives the valedictory speech at the NUS Commencement Ceremony 2009 held at the University Cultural Center. For the event, her solo piano work Si Fallor, Sum was performed by Young Steinway Artist Abigail Sin.

May 2009

-May 1 2009-

Emily guest-blogs about her participation at the Asian-Pacific Contemporary Music Festival (ACMF) in Korea at musicians.com.sg. Emily is the 2009 Young Composer Representative of Singapore. Her work III. Als Leben was performed by the Asian Festival Ensemble.

-March 25 2009-

The Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, National University of Singapore releases an article on their home page about Emily's participation at the Asian-Pacific Contemporary Music Festival. Read the excerpt below, or the full article here.
"Two composition students of A/P Ho Chee Kong, Emily Koh (Singapore) and Thatchatham Silsupan (Thailand), have been selected to represent their own countries for the Young Composers Award Competition by the Asian Composers League at the 2009 Asian-Pacific Contemporary Music Festival in Tongyeong and Seoul from 27 March to 2 April 2009..."

-March 16 2009-

The Music Library of the National University of Singapore puts up a display of works by senior composition students Emily Koh and Zhangyi Chen. Selected music by the composers will be on display until March 31 2009. Visit the library blog for more information.

February 2009

-February 20 2009-

Emily receives the Student Artistic Development Award to participate in the Asian-Pacific Contemporary Music Festival 2009 at Tongyeong and Seoul, South Korea. Emily was selected as the Young Composer Representative of Singapore in this festival.

-Febarury 16 2009-

Emily receives a new commission from the Pipa Society of Singapore. The new commisioned work for pipa and percussion will be performed in January 2010.

November 2008

-November 25 2008-

Emily is selected as the Young Composer Representative of Singapore for the Asian-Pacific Contemporary Music Festival 2009, held in Tongyeong and Seoul, South Korea. Her work, III. Als Leben as well as other works by Young Composer Representatives of other countries in the Asia-Pacific region will be presented during the festival in April 2009.

-November 3 to 7 2008-

Emily attends the Sentieri Selvaggi Composition Masterclass by Ivan Fedele at the Accademia Internazionale della Musica in Milan, Italy. She is the youngest of the 10 composers selected this year. Her work vom Empirischen Standpunkt was performed.

October 2008

-October 26 2008-

Emily receives the Student Artistic Development Award. This award partially supports her participation at the Sentieri Selvaggi Composition Masterclass by Ivan Fedele in Milan, Italy. Her work vom Empirischen Standpunkt will be performed by Sentieri Selvaggi during the masterclass.

-October 6 2008-

Emily is one of 10 composers selected to participate in the weeklong Sentieri Selvaggi Composition Masterclass by Ivan Fedele. The masterclass is organized by the new music ensemble, Sentieri Selvaggi, and is held at the Accademia Internaziole della Musica in Milan, Italy from November 3 - 7 2008. Her work vom Empirsichen Standpunkt will be performed.

September 2008

-September 2 to 11 2008-

Emily attends lessons, workshops and lectures at the 19th Takefu International Music Festival and Composition Workshop at Fukui, Japan. Her work vom Empirischen Standpunkt was also performed by the Next Mushroom Project.

August 2008

-Saturday 23 to 31 2008-

Emily attends lessons in Javanese and Balinese gamelan, Balinese painting and Balinese dancing at Flower Mountain, Bali, Indonesia. This program, Mixes, is a collaborative project between the YST Conservatory, Guildhall School of Music and the Center for World Music.

-August 26 2008-

Emily receives the Student Artistic Development Award. This award partially supports her participation at the 19th Takefu International Music Festival and Composition Workshop in Japan.

-August 25 2008-

Emily receives a new commission from the NUS Symphony Orchestra, supported by the NUS Center for the Arts. The new commissioned work will open the orchestra's 30th anniversary concert at the NUS Arts Festival 2009.

-August 14 2008-

Emily receives a new commission from the NUS Guitar Ensemble, supported by the NUS Center for the Arts. The new commissioned work will be performed by the ensemble at the NUS Arts Festival 2009.

-August 13 2008-

Emily is accepted into the 19th Takefu International Music Festival and Composition Workshop in Japan. Her new work vom Empirischen Standpunkt will be performed by the Next Mushroom Project.

July 2008

-July 16 to 18 2008-

Emily attends lectures, discussions and concerts by Chinary Ung, New York New Music Ensemble, Kohei Mukai, Koji Nakano, David Vayo and others at the 4th Thailand International Composition Festival, held at Burapha University, Bang Saen, Thailand.

-July 3 2008-

Emily attends lessons, workshops, concerts and lectures by Gerhard Müller-Hornbach, Unsuk Chin, Susanne Müller-Hornbach and Narong Prangcharoen at the Tongyeong International Music Festival Academy 2008.

Emily receives a commission from the ArtsSphere Chamber Ensemble.

Emily receives a scholarship from the Tongyeong International Music Festival Academy to attend their festival from July 1 to 5 2008, at Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand.

-April 6 2008-

The Conservatory New Music Ensemble, conducted by Mr Chan Tze Law, performs Emily's piece for chamber orchestra, Longing Full Circles in Modern iCons, part of the Esplanade Spectrum New Music Series.

-April 7 2008-

The Conservatory New Music Ensemble, conducted by Mr Chan Tze Law, records Emily's work for Chamber Orchestra, Longing Full Circles

-April 14 2008-

The Conservatory Orchestra, directed by Maestra Wang Ya-hui, reads Emily's orchestral piece, Lasts.

Sephiroths, conducted by Jun Wong, receives its Asian premiere at the Conservatory Soundbits Series.

Emily and Low Shao Suan (harpsichord) perform J.S. Bach's Sonata for Viola da Gamba and Harpsichord BWV 1029 in a double bass masterclass with Dr Paul Erhard.

Longing Full Circles receives its premiere by the Conservatory New Music Ensemble, conducted by Mr Chan Tze Law, at the Conservatory Soundbits Series.

The Conservatory New Music Ensemble, conducted by Mr Chan Tze Law, performs III. als Leben in the inaugural Modern iCONS concert, part fo the Esplanade Spectrum New Music Series.
