Emily Koh is a young composer of contemporary classical music, native of Singapore.

A recipient of numerous awards, grants and scholarships from various institutions and organizations, Emily’s music has seen performances by ensembles such as the Asian Festival Ensemble, the Next Mushroom Project, Signal Ensemble, the Arts Sphere Chamber Ensemble, the NUS Symphony Orchestra, and the Conservatory New Music Ensemble amongst others, and have been heard at various venues in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Japan, South Korea, Europe, the United Kingdom, Canada, and the United States.

Besides composing, Emily is an avid double bassist and music educator. She is a founding member of d’Bassists, the only double bass ensemble based in Singapore. Currently, Emily performs with The Singapore Festival Orchestra, The Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Conservatory Orchestra amongst others. Emily had previously taught at Temasek Junior College (Singapore), Saint Loyola Academy (Baltimore, MD) and in various school bands and orchestras.

A recipient of a full scholarship, Emily is currently pursuing her Master of Music degrees in composition and music theory pedagogy at the Peabody Conservatory, Baltimore, MD, where she is a student of Kevin Puts. She graduated from the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, National University of Singapore, as valedictorian of her class, and studied composition with Ho Chee Kong and double bass with Guennadi Mouzyka. Emily had also been conferred the Associate and Licentiate diplomas of the Trinity College London in Music Theory, Criticism and Literature, and also holds a diploma in double bass performance from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (London).
